As we age or when we are afflicted with a chronic illness we can become less active. We often enter into a vicious cycle of de-conditioning, increased muscle weakness, frequent fall, loss of bone density, inability to perform simple activities of daily life, and sometime depression. Our energy, stamina, and confidence often decline, which leads to increasing frailty and disability. This causes us to become more dependent upon others and less able to care for ourselves.

No similar program exists anywhere in the region and certainly none that are comparable to our 15 years of experience and published research in the field. Clinicians who are familiar with a client's history utilize exercise techniques that have been developed over years of experience to: maximize gains rapidly, exercise safely, educate and promote exercise as a lifestyle.

This is a progressive approach to aging and chronic disease and differs from the traditional pharmaceutical regimes or standard treatments. Clients who take part are given the tools they need to actively participate in their own care and rehabilitation.

Cancer Patients are unique in the sense that they receive very intense and different treatments: chemo, radiation, invasive surgery (lumpectomy, mastectomy, etc). All of these treatments cause acute and chronic physiological alterations to a patents body. Immune systems, cardiovascular, pulmonary, musculoskeletal, hepatic, neuroendocrine, and dermatological symptoms are all compromised.

MBF can help cancer patients by providing a safe and enthusiastic environment to exercise. Exercise helps make some of the long term affects of treatment shorter and gets these patients back to normal everyday activities quicker.

Cancer patients have unique symptoms from treatment and dealing with the idea of cancer can be very difficult. Many patients are very fatigued, have muscle weakness, lymphedema, pain, body image changes, along with psychological fatigue. All of these symptoms can be positively affected by exercise.
